'Tag Rugby' is a variation on the theme of traditional rugby, the main difference being that 'Tag Rugby' is a non-contact sport. This makes the game a lot safer and playable on any surface.
In order to score a try, players must cross the opponents goal line with the ball. On soft surfaces, players may also be expected to touch the ball to the ground. There are no goal posts in Tag Rugby.
Scoring a try
Passing the ball
As with traditional Rugby, forward passing is not permitted. This means that you are not allowed to pass the ball in the direction of your opponents goal line. If you make a forward pass, the opposing team is given control of the ball and awarded a 'free pass'.
Each player wears a belt with two Tags attached with velcro. A Tackle is made by pulling off a 'Tag' from the person carrying the ball, holding it in the air and shouting 'Tag!' The ball carrier then has three seconds in which to pass the ball.
